life happens, coffee helps

Motivation and Inspiration: The Devils on Your Shoulder

Let’s face it, I’m not always witty.

I know it’s hard to understand and to think of a time when I’m not on my A game because, let’s face it, I’m awesome. But it totally happens and it happens all the time. For example, this post has been a draft for about two weeks now, simply because I couldn’t think of what I wanted to write about.

So what do you do when you’re not feeling like your dazzling self but a deadline fast approaches?

Take a break

Sit down for a second, grab a cup of coffee, and relax. You aren’t going to come up with anything good if you’re forcing it.

Do some research

Research current events and see if you find something that interests you and write about it. You never know what could inspire you.

Watch videos of dogs

I fucking love dogs and dog vines always put me in a good mood and make me want to write. That tactic may not work for you, but  it definitely works for me and worst case scenario if it doesn’t cure your writers block at least you’ve watched a dog video or 20.

Interview your friends

Ask your friends what’s going on in their lives. You could find a little nugget of interesting information in there. If so, take it and run with it. Hell, you can even embellish it a little and call it fiction.

Read a book or something

I don’t even know man, I’m running out of ideas. See if a book interests you and write about it?

Anyways, writers block is totally common and happens to the best and worst of us, including me right now. So don’t worry, you’re one of us.

Au revior,

Miranda
